Artist Biography
An international artist, Eric has traveled to many places in the world -- Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ethiopia, Botswana, Singapore -- and has collaborated on projects in a variety of diverse settings.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1989, Eric began his career in art early, attending an arts-magnet middle school, Loch Raven Academy, followed by an all-arts high school, George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, where he focused on filmmaking and painting. After winning the Linehan Artist Scholarship in 2007 which recognized him as a Maryland artist, he spent the next three years studying cinematic arts at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). While a student, in 2008-2009 Eric served as Special Media Projects Producer for the UMBC Library Media Department, in which he created library department overview videos which can be seen on the UMBC Library website. He left the UMBC Library in Demember 2009 to travel for some time through Ethiopia and study abroad for a semester in Africa, where he met his wife at the University of Botswana in Gaborone. Eric works full-time in his studio in Gaborone, Botswana, as a fine painter and draftsman. His paintings and drawings fuse various aesthetics. He draws his greatest fulfillment from painting the human face. |
